Loving Loule
Loule, Portugal |
Loule, Portugal
I got to Loule this morning after a harrowing 16 minute train ride (just kidding). The train ticket was 1.80 Euros but the taxi was 10.80 Euros for the six kilometres. It’s very unusual to have the train station so far as it has been a 5-15 minute walk to my hotel.
Managed to get lost before noon, but when I returned to the hotel when my room was ready, I was in love. Have a gorgeous room with TWO patio doors and a wrap around terrace. Going to love the next three nights. Thinking I need to veg a bit because the last two weeks since I left Seville were pretty busy!
The restaurant I went to next door was all locals, family run, and I just ordered the special, which everyone was eating. It was shredded salted cod but not salty, not fishy, sauted with ??onion? Maybe even cabbage as the spaniards call them ‘cabbage eaters’!! Have to look up the recipe.
The town is in full Christmas mode with activities for the children. There is a ‘skating rink’, plastic polar bears, igloos, Santa, entertainers.
They have a huge Saturday farmers market (inside and outside) and it was interesting walking around, looking at the all produce while listening to piped-in Dean Martin singing ‘weather outside is frightful…let it snow, let it snow…’
It’s now Sunday night, and I’ll be leaving tomorrow for Lagos. See you there!
